Problem: A plastic cover for a public transportation GPS system was failing in the field because, during vehicle washing, caustic cleaning solutions were eating away the plastic material. Challenge: Cast and machine the part out of more durable aluminum at the client's current plastic price. Solution: We produced a 2-cavity plate for our automated molding line, holding the wall thickness under .200. We also took advantage of our 10,000 RPM milling centers and pallet shuttling systems and our unique process for powder coating parts prior to machining. Outcome: Precision was able to cast, machine and powder coat the part under the client's budget and prevent further failures in the field.
